World Vision International: Children of Syria

Women and children are most adversely impacted by the ongoing war in Syria, and displacement means they live in difficult environments. With World Vision and European Commission - ECHO's support, they have safe shelter, resources to overcome the impacts of war, and space to be children again.

After escaping the war in the first part of the story, Saleem arrives at the camp with his mother in hopes of a new future. As of June 2024, Syria remains entrenched in the largest displacement crisis globally, with 13.8 million people forcibly uprooted both within and outside its borders, including children with their educations interrupted. Saleem and Lara are just two of them, still millions of children are trying to heal the wounds caused by the war.

As the animation video series come to an end, World Vision is sounding the alarm that Syrian children must not be neglected. Syria has undoubtedly the worst child protection, and the European Union, along with World Vision are prioritizing Syrian children's mental and psychosocial health. Their wellbeing must be immediately put into action, especially ensuring it is integrated across all sectors such as health and education.
